While new to the contemporary jazz radio scene, Muskogee, Oklahoma native Jermaine Mondaine is no newcomer to the Saxophone. With over 25 years of professional playing experience to his credit, Jermaine has performed live or in the studio with an impressive and diverse array of musical talent, including the late Wayman Tisdale, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, and Phil Driscoll. A player of formidable chops on Alto, Soprano, and Tenor Sax, Jermaine’s gospel roots are evident in his spirit filled playing. Song highlights from the album are the first single “Over And Over Again (You Just Keep On Blessing Me),” and “Going Higher,” which features Paul Jackson Jr. on Guitar. His warm Soprano Sax carries the melody on the beautiful “Gone Too Soon,” a tribute to some important people in his life who indeed left this world too soon. There are many gifted sax players in the Smooth Jazz format, but those who combine superior technical proficiency with an anointing in their horn playing are rare. Mr. Mondaine has both in abundance.
